Gradual rollout of new Tesla Autopilot starts, Elon Musk says

Tesla kicked off its Version 8.0 over-the-air update at approximately 4am Pacific Time on Thursday morning to select Model S and Model X vehicles. The map will also have a self-adjusting zoom function, which will focus primarily on the area related to your current travel.

Even Sandvold Roland – a Tesla Motors Inc (NASDAQ:TSLA) spokesman – said according to the measurement method required by the authorities, the electric vehicle meets requirements. Tesla believes the increased importance of radar will dramatically improve the safety of its vehicles, making them “by far” the safest vehicles on the road. It can automatically navigate highway interchanges. “It’s driver assist”, owner Praveen Kankariya said.

The improvements include increased usage of radar to better identify other things happening on the road.

Additionally, Autopilot should now be smoother in stop and go traffic, operates having scanned for vehicles two cars ahead to improve its reaction time in emergency braking situations, and will drive further away from a auto straying towards you in its lane as you overtake.

-Perhaps the most safety-conscious feature, however, is the system in place to make certain the driver is paying attention. The company said that this deal is going to enable the combined entity to become “the world’s only vertically integrated sustainable energy company”.

The entire Tesla fleet is getting a major upgrade with its Version 8.0 software update, which boasts a slew of new features. We’re also expecting to see more information on the software’s functions coming out soon – and maybe even the usual Easter eggs Tesla has been traditionally bundling its software packages with. And we think its stock price has almost unlimited room to run for early in-the-know investors!
