WALLACE: So, there is a possibility that President Trump, you are saying – leaving it wide open that he will act against President Assad if he goes against civilians no matter what weapon he uses? U.S. Treasury officials say they are preparing sanctions in response to the chemical weapons attack, though the Syrian government is already buried under U.S. and European Union sanctions.
Other than that, he added, “there is no change to our military posture” toward Syria.
USA secretary of state Tillerson is due to arrive in Moscow on Tuesday for two days of talks.
NPR Pentagon correspondent Tom Bowman said Saturday that “there’s no indication” the Trump administration will take further action against the Assad regime, describing the airstrike as a “narrowly focused mission”.
The Russian legislator further criticized US President Donald Trump as an “unpredictable and reckless” politician, stressing that the US military action against Syria has further damaged the already-battered relations between Moscow and Washington. Russia, importantly, can at least tolerate this limited attack on its ally Assad.
But he said Turkey could not “remain silent” on the Syrian government’s chemical weapons use, and insisted Moscow work with Ankara to establish a transitional government in Damascus.
Assad said the U.S. missile strikes on a Syrian air base, launched in response to the chemical weapons attack, only made him more determined.

USA officials blame Moscow for propping up Assad.
“Russians should ask themselves: ‘What are we doing here? Russian Federation should ask themselves, ‘What are we doing here?'” McMaster said.
“But the signal that they’re able to fly nearly right away out of the same facility indicates that I don’t think we did as thorough enough job, which would have been cratering the runways”, McCain said”.

USA secretary of state Rex Tillerson is then expected to deliver a message that the Kremlin faces global isolation if it stands by the regime in Damascus.
