Grand jury indicts truck driver in Tracy Morgan crash
The truck driver responsible for crashing into the limousine Tracy Morgan was riding in during June 2014 was indicted by a grand jury on Wednesday (December 23) in Middlesex County, N.J.

Roper’s attorney, David Glassman, headed to court on Tuesday to ask a judge to dismiss one criminal count of death by auto and four counts of assault by auto, insisting his client would never be able to get a fair trial due to the negative publicity surrounding the accident, especially as Wal-Mart bosses settled a negligence lawsuit with Morgan earlier this year.
According to WABC, driver Kevin roper faces charges of aggravated manslaughter, vehicular homicide and aggravated assault charges for slamming his truck into Morgan’s limo van. Today a grand jury handed Kevin Roper several charges from manslaughter to vehicular homicide for his involvement in the New Jersey crash. Roper will be arraigned in court at a later date, prosecutors said.
Federal investigators said Roper hadn’t slept for 28 hours before the crash.
McNair was killed and Morgan was severely hurt, lying in a coma for eight days, temporarily losing his sight and enduring long months of rehabilitation for brain and limb injuries. He’s now preparing to embark on a national comedy tour, kicking off the Tracy Morgan: Picking Up the Pieces tour on February 5.
But four months later he made a triumphant return to SNL with a special appearance hosting the show.
Roper drove 12 hours to work before starting his 14-hour shift, which likely caused the crash.

The board said Morgan and other passengers in the limo were at fault for not wearing seat belts and for adjusting headrests, which it said contributed to the severity of their injuries when the vehicle was struck from behind.
