Ohioans will decide next Tuesday on Issue 3, the Marijuana Legalization Amendment, and recent polls indicate that voters are evenly divided on the issue.

On Issue 3, the result was an even 46 percent-46 percent split, with eight percent of voters undecided on ResponsibleOhio’s proposal to regulate marijuana use for medicinal and recreational purposes. The ResponsibleOhio campaign is opposing Issue 2. The law would legalize the production, sale, and adult consumption of marijuana products in the state and permit licenses for specific distribution companies. The study attributed much of the exposure to marijuana brownies and other edible products, which can contain high amounts of marijuana’s psychoactive ingredient THC.

LEAP joins Issue 3 supporters that include former Cincinnati Police Chief Tom Streicher, the American Civil Liberties Union of Ohio, and the National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws (NORML).

Representatives of the Ohio Farm Bureau, the AFL-CIO, the Fraternal Order of Police and the Columbus Chamber of Commerce were on hand to voice their support Tuesday.
