Grassley: FBI Improperly Restricted Clinton Investigation Files
Rep. Adam Schiff of California, the top Democrat on the House Intelligence Committee, warned this week that providing the FBI’s confidential notes to the Republicans will discourage witnesses from cooperating with future investigations.

It’s been more than a month since FBI Director James Comey announced the department was not recommending criminal charges against Clinton.
All leaks of classified information are not created equal- at least not for top officials running Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign. “We believe that if these materials are going to be shared outside the Justice Department, they should be released widely so that the public can see them for themselves, rather than allow Republicans to mischaracterize them through selective, partisan leaks”.
The FBI on Tuesday provided Congress portions of its file from the agency’s yearlong investigation into whether then-Secretary of State Clinton and her top aides mishandled classified information that flowed through a private email server located in the basement of her NY home. These emails came from Clinton’s use of a private email server and were not included in the FBI’s investigation.
“Although there may be other aspects of Secretary Clinton’s sworn testimony that are at odds with the FBI’s findings, her testimony in those four areas bears specific scrutiny in light of the facts and evidence”, they wrote. He also said Clinton was not under oath when she partook in the interview, though it would still be a crime to deliberately and knowingly mislead law enforcement.
But Could Those Notes Contain Sensitive Information? The staffers spoke on condition of anonymity because they had not been authorized to speak publicly about the security precautions. So much sensitive and nationally compromising information passed through Clinton’s private account; the Federal Bureau of Investigation found that 113 classified emails were sent and received through the server, and 2,000 more were classified afterwards.
Rep. Elijah E. Cummings, the ranking Democrat on the House oversight committee, said Clinton did not originate the three email chains in question, which were forwarded to her private account by aides.
Potentially, and that’s one concern the State Department had.
Fox reported that a congressional source confirmed Tuesday that the FBI’s summary notes from the interview were “heavily redacted”. “We haven’t quite reached an agreement on those”.

The announcement comes as the conservative group Judicial Watch announced that it would receive copies of thousands of previously undisclosed work-related emails sent or received by Clinton. A court hearing on the issue is scheduled for next week.
