The 68-year-old singer, songwriter, and guitarist recorded the upcoming record in various locations throughout 2015, apparently spending the first half of this year polishing the album. Produced by Josh Kaufman, the record sees Weir collaborate with Josh Ritter, as well as Aaron Dessner, Bryce Dessner and Scott Devendorf of the National. Blue Mountain is due September 30 and is now available for pre-order in both CD and Digital formats with vinyl coming as well.
Numerous other musicians performed on Blue Mountain, including members of Dead tribute band Joe Russo’s Almost Dead (Joe Russo, Jon Shaw) and members of RatDog (Jay Lane, Steve Kimock).
A pre-sale for tickets to Bob Weir’s “Campfire Tour” begins on August 9 at 10 a.m. local times and will be followed by public on-sales starting on August 12 at 10 a.m. local times. Providing backup vocals are The Bandana Splits, comprised of Annie Nero, Lauren Balthropand Dawn Landes.
