The electric mouse’s detective adventure was said to see players partner with Pikachu to tackle crime, with development known to have used motion capture and facial recogniation to improve the portrayal of Pikachu talking.
Right now the game is scheduled only for a Japanese release, but hopefully a Worldwide release is iminent since this is the 20th Anniversary of Pokemon this year. Only one detective has the skills necessary to bring justice to these dark alleys, and thats the fuzzy yellow mascot of the Pokemon universe, Pikachu. Nintendo’s releasing a 3DS game in Japan next week starring Pikachu as a Sherlock-style detective. That’s right, this game is going to have evil Pikachus.

Detective Pikachu: Birth of a New Duo will be released for Nintendo 3DS on February 3 in Japan for 1,500 yen (about $13). No word on whether the game will be localized for Western audiences, but I’d be astounded if it wasn’t.
