Green Bay Packers: 3 Stars of the Game

The Packers have started out 1-2 each of the last three seasons and one of those defeats previous year was to the Seahawks at CenturyLink Field. When asked about it, he willingly answers, but Rodgers isn’t going to drop a “God bless you” at at every turn like a Tim Tebow or go out of his way to discuss faith like Wilson.

Later that week Rodgers said this during a radio interview: “I don’t think God cares a whole lot about the outcome”. “I think God cares about everything he created”.

He repeated his stance during media day at the Super Bowl.

“God is too good all the time”, Wilson wept to reporters after the nail-biting result.

On the ensuing possession, Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson’s screen pass to running back Marshawn Lynch was intercepted in one-handed fashion by outside linebacker Jayrone Elliott.

“Atheist National Football League fans will understand”, said one comment on Reddit. Michael Bennett has historically been known to jump the gun and be called for offsides and Aaron Rodger’s hard count got the best of him last night. More importantly, it gave Green Bay a 2-0 record while Seattle fell to 0-2, meaning that the Packers now have a three-game lead over the Seahawks and home field advantage should they meet again in the playoffs. “We took a lot of time off the clock”, Green Bay Coach Mike McCarthy said after the game. The loss to Green Bay was the third straight game the Seahawks lost after leading in the fourth quarter.

It wasn’t just mistakes on offense, as Seattle’s defense was guilty of sloppy play, with Bennett himself flagged for a trio of offsides penalties, leaving him to acknowledge: “I just (expletive) up”. Five of those teams – the Arizona Cardinals (1998), the Buffalo Bills (1998), the New England Patriots (1996), the Detroit Lions (1995), the then-Houston Oilers (1990) – lost their first two games on the road and were able to rally and make the play-offs. He also said somebody ripped his helmet off – and in his words, “I don’t know why that’s not a flag”.

“In the middle of their defense is where you can find some soft spots, that’s kind of what we targeted there”, the quarterback said.
