A third-round draft pick in a deep receiving corps, Montgomery has made play after play in practice, conjuring thoughts of how Aaron Rodgers might involve him in the offense behind his “three studs”, as Rodgers put it. Montgomery also enters the preseason opener in New England as Green Bay’s No. 1 kickoff returner charged with reviving the league’s 31-ranked unit.

Packers coach Mike McCarthy said “Whoever travels to New England will play”, and Rodgers seemed to fill in the blanks from there.
Meanwhile, the Green Bay Packers play a Patriots team they met in week 13 of last year’s regular season. He should be able to get some ample playing time during this game at least.
Rodgers said after practice he expects the starters will play for a short time.
The Green Bay Packers have begun demolishing the last vacant structure on land the team owns west of Lambeau Field as it prepares for a major commercial development on the property. “There’s always other factors that go along with that”.

-LB Clay Matthews practiced Monday after missing the previous week because of knee soreness. Even though it’s just a preseason game, this will still be a battle of talented rosters and organizations with high expectations for the 2015 season.
Who are some of the guys to watch when the Packers invade Gillette Stadium? His availability for Thursday’s preseason game at New England is uncertain. Obviously everybody wants to get the first down, and that’s a tribute to our offense and to Aaron, [but] you don’t punt for a couple of weeks in a game.
-WR Jared Abbrederis remains out. CB Demetri Goodson dropped out of practice with a calf injury….The Packers released undrafted rookie WR Ricky Collins, who was on the physically unable to perform list since the start of training camp.
The Patriots also signed former Arizona Cardinals quarterback Ryan Lindley this week after Matt Flynn couldn’t pass his physical.
Why Mandell was let go early in camp wasn’t disclosed Monday. Behind them, there are two guys starting to pull away in the competition to be the linebacker that checks in when Matthews moves to the outside.

With the Packers available starters not expected to play long, McCarthy and general manager Ted Thompson are eager to see their young players in live action against an opponent for the first time this summer.
