Detroit is coming off a 45-14 rout of the Philadelphia Eagles on Thanksgiving in which Matthew Stafford fired five touchdown passes, including three to Calvin Johnson. Green Bay Packers running back Eddie Lacy earned the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year Award in 2013 and followed with another 1,000-yard season in 2014. He is going to be given more freedom in the offense and the coaching staff will likely start running different looks offensively. The Packers have lost four of their last five games, which included a loss to the Lions at Lambeau Field. But the former Alabama star had never done for the Packers what he’s accomplished in the past two games: Rush for at least 100 yards in back-to-back regular-season contests. We can’t be that type of football team if we want to finish the season where we want to finish the season. But the Detroit penalty extended the game and Green Bay pulled off the miracle.
NOTES: Overshadowed in the loss was Johnson’s 17-yard TD catch in the first quarter in which he leaped to catch the ball with two hands and squeezed it with only his right hand while planting his right foot and dragging his left near the side of the end zone.
The Packers have only lost twice in one season to the Lions one time since 2000 and the odds are in favor of Green Bay again tonight.
Aaron Rodgers finished 24 of 36 for 289 yards with two touchdowns. Something is wrong with the offense.
