The Green Bay Packers announced on Monday that an MRI confirmed what everyone had feared: wide receiver Jordy Nelson is done for the season with a torn ACL.

The Green Bay Packers and Pittsburgh Steelers both suffered devastating injuries during NFL preseason games on Sunday.
It’s just going to be a little different without Nelson, who was lost for the season with the right knee injury after jumping for a pass on the first series of the 24-19 loss to the Steelers on Sunday. Nelson finished seventh in the league with 98 catches, fourth with 1,519 yards and tied for second with 13 touchdowns. Linebacker Derrick Johnson and defensive tackle Mike DeVito missed all but the first game of last season because of Achilles injuries.
Shortly after, Detroit Lions safety Glover Quin offered up his speculation on why Nelson was injured – and why it didn’t matter that the injury happened in preseason. The receptions and receiving yards were career-highs for Nelson. Second-year receiver Davante Adams is expected to make a big jump in terms of targets and yardage after getting full off season of work with Rodgers under his belt.
Minnesota last won the division in 2009, but don’t forget an Adrian Peterson-led, Christian Ponder-quarterbacked team beat the Packers at the Metrodome during the final game of the 2012 season to get into the playoffs.
Myles White, who played seven games with the Packers in 2013, has also had a good camp. While Rodgers admits that the NFL preseason games are moneymakers in their own rights, the Packers quarterback thinks that the health of the football stars should be the priority. But, there’s probably a better solution out there, I’m not sure what it is, ” Matthew Stafford said.
To some it might be a meaningless game, and I’m not disagreeing with what Aaron’s saying, but there’s a lot of guys in this locker room that need these games, especially now. Reports from major NFL news outlets have indicated it is a torn ACL.
Coach Jim Caldwell says he prefers not to think about these kinds of things, at least so close to the start of the season.
“With a guy like Clay, who’s bright (and has) good football instincts, I like where he is in terms of being able to do what I ask him to do”.
But no one has the kind of rapport that Nelson, entering his eight season, has cultivated with Rodgers.
