Gregg Godfrey jumps semi 166 feet

The world record for a jump by a semi-truck has been smashed by stuntman Gregg Godfrey, who somehow powered his vehicle 166 feet on Friday, the Daily Beast reported. It was in the process of setting a world record for longest jump by a semi truck. Godfrey also released a short clip from inside the cab on Instagram (embedded below), and, as you might have expected, the stunt looked far more violent from that perspective.

This isn’t the daredevil’s first such stunt either, Mashable reports, as he set a record in 2008 with a 50-foot jump.

Knievel himself blessed the jump, saying, “Gregg Godfrey just brought Evel Knievel Days to a whole new level”. In front of a crowd of 2,000, Godfrey put the pedal to the metal on his 9-ton Freightliner truck, flying off a dirt ramp for a distance of 166 feet.
