Gregg Popovich takes swipe at Cavs’ firing of David Blatt

David Blatt, an Israeli citizen and highly popular coach of Maccabi Tel-Aviv before joining the Cavaliers, has inspired some hatred in response to his sudden removal.

The San Antonio Spurs were absolutely outclassed and outmanned on Monday night with Tim Duncan out of the lineup against the NBA’s best and defending champs in the Golden State Warriors.

If they are still in front next Sunday, it’s likely newly promoted head coach Tyronn Lue will get the All-Star nod, although Lue says he thinks it would be “sweet” if the now unemployed Blatt got the honor.

The Cavaliers lead the East, but they surprisingly sacked head coach David Blatt on Friday.

That being said, it’s still no less shocking to see an opposing head coach-even Gregg Popovich-taking shots like this at a team that they weren’t even playing against on Monday night. It’s possible Cleveland’s Kevin Love will be added as a reserve.

One of the underlying storylines over the past couple of weeks has been the role that LeBron played in Blatt’s dismissal and while the team continues to hold firm on the idea that he knew nothing about the firing the majority of National Basketball Association experts will not buy in to that.

According to one player over there playing professionally, the Cavaliers have disappeared from the television.
