According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Giants are -155 money line favorites versus the Diamondbacks, who have odds of +140 to pull off the upset in San Francisco tonight.

“I think the first time I pitched here I gave up five runs”, Greinke said. “I couldn’t strike anyone out but I was getting weak contact so it was fine”.

They could have used a little momentum with a victory over the Diamondbacks, and particularly Greinke, but the Giants mound nemesis ultimately upped his record to 9-1 against them, including 4-0 at AT&T Park, even though he wasn t the usual dominant Greinke. Arizona OF A.J. Pollock, who missed the first five months of the season with a fractured elbow, is 5-for-7 over his last two games after going 0-for-8 in his first two contests.3.

He has faced the Diamondbacks only once in his career and took the loss, allowing five runs in seven innings (6.43 ERA).

The trade-deadline acquisition from Tampa Bay got a standing ovation from Giants fans for just showing up at the first game of their current homestand Friday. Somehow, Cueto walked Yasmany Tomas, who only had 26 walks in 417 at-bats this season, to lead off the inning. GM Bobby Evans confirmed before the game that the Giants were one of 28 teams represented at the Tim Tebow showcase in Los Angeles earlier in the day.

In the fifth, Chris Owings hit an RBI triple, and after Cueto walked Greinke, Jean Segura singled in Owings.

Pagan and Hunter Pence had three hits apiece for San Francisco.

Escobar delivered another double play in the eighth against his former team, this time inducing Panik, and Daniel Hudson finished things off in the ninth despite surrendering a run.

“We’re definitely excited”, Diamondbacks manager Chip Hale gushed after Tuesday’s win. After a one-out walk to Pence, Panik hit a grounder to second baseman Segura, who made a nifty backhand flip to Owings to start the DP.

“”Center fielder Denard Span left the game with a stiff neck in the sixth inning”.

Cueto (14-5) cruised through the first three innings and escaped a two-out, two-on jam in the fourth before the Diamondbacks batted around in the fifth. The Giants have scored 17 runs in their last three games and four or more runs in eight of their last 12 games. Jake Peavy received a cortisone shot to alleviate some of the pain in his lower back. Miller hasn’t pitched in the majors since July 6 and his 7.14 ERA is almost double that of any previous season.
