Greta Van Susteren abruptly leaves Fox News after 14 years
Now, with a lawsuit being settled with former anchor Gretchen Carlson, comes news that another prominent voice on the network is also leaving: Greta Van Susteren has confirmed her exit.

A news release today from the parent company, 21 Century Fox, did not disclose the terms.
Fox News reportedly agreed to publicly apologize to Carlson as a part of the settlement.
In the same statement, Carlson said, “I am ready to move on with the next chapter of my life in which I will redouble my efforts to empower women in the workplace”.
The chairman and chief executive, respectively, of 21st Century Fox, have battled Ailes over the network’s direction and are said to have disliked him intensely.
Ms Carlson, 50, had claimed that Mr Ailes, 76, one of the most prominent figures in U.S. television, first demoted her then sacked her after she spurned him.
The move led to Ailes resigning as CEO after almost 20 years at the helm of the number one cable news network.
Before it’s here, it’s on the Bloomberg Terminal.
The Gretchen Carlson case was filed in court on July 6, after months of Ms. Carlson recording her sexually provocative meetings with her married boss on her iPhone. She thanked “all the fearless women” who came forward to tell their own stories and others who supported her.
Fox News’ senior political analyst Brit Hume will take over for Van Susteren as host of daily news show On the Record beginning tonight and through the election, according to Fox News co-presidents Jack Abernethy and Bill Shine. In one conversation that NY magazine said this week Carlson secretly recorded, Ailes allegedly said, “I think you and I should have had a sexual relationship a long time ago and then you’d be good and better and I’d be good and better”, adding that “sometimes problems are easier to solve” that way.
“All women deserve a dignified and respectful workplace”, she said. According to reports, at least two dozen other women spoke of harassment to Fox’s counsel that conducted an in-house investigation of Ailes’ behavior.
As it’s likely that Van Susteren signed a non-disclosure agreement during her time at the network, it may be quite some time before we get any more information than that. “ORCRP0000017185-topic.html” class=”local_link” >21 Century Fox also issued an apology to Carlson, who accused Ailes of sabotaging her career after she rebuffed sexual advances and complained about a hostile work environment.
