Greta Van Susteren Is Leaving Fox News

As previously reported by The Inquisitr, back on July 6, 2016, Carlson filed a sexual harassment lawsuit against then-Fox News CEO Roger Ailes. “We sincerely regret and apologize for the fact that Gretchen was not treated with the respect that she and all our colleagues deserve”.

Twenty-First Century Fox Corporation on Tuesday settled the high-profile sexual harassment case against Roger Ailes, the former head of Fox News Channel, by former Fox News anchor Gretchen Carlson. Former anchor Andrea Tantaros claimed she was taken off the air in April in retaliation for rebuffing Ailes’ advances and complaining to top officials at Fox News.

In her own statement on Tuesday, Carlson said she was “ready to move on”. Maatz said. “I don’t know that for sure but I do know this: I think that when women do come forward, they will have more support from other women who have been in the same spot”.

“All women deserve a dignified and respectful workplace”, she said.

A court filing showed Carlson, 50, had voluntarily dismissed her federal lawsuit in New Jersey against Ailes.

Murdoch, the patriarch of Fox’s parent company 21st Century Fox, disliked her recent attempt to renegotiate her contract, and the unusual courier visit was a result of that, said one of the sources interviewed for this story. Ailes has strongly denied the allegations. For a year and a half, she had been recording her meetings with Ailes on her cellphone (in an interview with The New York Times in July, Carlson said she had been in “between six and 10” meetings with Ailes where he made provocative comments). And now, NBC News and MSNBC will be able to tap the perspective of Gabriel Sherman for stories related to media and politics.

Starting Tuesday, she’s being temporarily replaced in her 7 p.m. ET time slot by Fox veteran Brit Hume, at least through the election.

Ex-anchor Gretchen Carlson is getting the settlement from Fox, although her lawsuit was against Ailes.

Fox did not publicly explain Van Susteren’s abrupt exit after 14 years, although a person close to the situation who spoke on condition of anonymity described it as a financial disagreement. She said that in leaving the network, she was exercising a provision in her contract that allowed her to leave if Ailes was no longer her boss.

Van Susteren posted a message addressing her sudden exit on her Facebook page.

Van Susteren said on Facebook that she hopes “to continue my career in broadcasting”. Sean Hannity comes to mind.

Van Susteren was not quoted in the announcement. In her 2015 book Getting Real, she wrote about harassing encounters with men when she was on the Miss America circuit and trying to break into television.
