Griezmann fires Atletico to Champions League final

Pep Guardiola believes his Bayern Munich team can learn from previous semifinal exits as they look to make it third-time lucky in the Champions League under the outgoing coach.

“He hasn’t won the Champions League so far but that’s really hard for a club to win it every two or three years”.

Atletico, aiming to be crowned European champions for the first time, will meet Manchester City or Real Madrid in the final on 28 May.

“The most important thing is that we know who we are”, Atletico’s Torres told reporters on Monday.

Bayern have been unstoppable at home in Europe this season, winning all five games at the Allianz Arena.

Fernando Torres and Antoine Griezmann form the attack for the 2014 runners-up.

The German giants will be the hosts of tonight’s fixture as they try to overcome a 1-0 deficit against La Liga’s best defensive team at the Allianz Arena.

Pep Guardiola’s Bayern dominated possession, playing silky passing football, while Diego Simeone’s Atletico highlighted once again that they have a defence built like a brick wall.

After a slow start to the half, Bayern were presented with an opening after 21 minutes when Thomas Muller teed up Robert Lewandowski, but Jan Oblak produced a fine save to deny the striker. I have different ideas of how to play.

“Now I’m trying to win the Champions League”.

A win or a score draw at the Santiago Bernabeu is an unlikely result, considering the fact that it is a fortress for the Galacticos on most matchdays, but Man City know that this will be their only hope of progressing to a first ever UEFA Champions League final. We’ve got the chance to reach the final in a home match, and we will give it our all. The Bavarians were victorious 4-0 in a replay after the teams played out a 1-1 draw (after extra-time) in the initial final. “On Tuesday we will see how strong both Bayern and we are”.

“We did not win or lose because Thomas Mueller wasn’t there (in the first leg), and tomorrow we will not win or lose because Thomas is or isn’t there”.

Torres said: “As always we will go to win”.

Ribery missed Bayern’s league game on Saturday against Borussia Moenchengladbach and fellow winger Arjen Robben is already sidelined through injury.
