Griffin to the IR, Josh McCown Week 2 Starter
The Cleveland Browns had a very rough start to their 2016 National Football League season. It all turned to bad shortly after when Browns center Cameron Erving floated the snap over Griffin’s head and into the endzone, causing a huge game-changing safety.

Any sense of optimism surrounding the 2016 Cleveland Browns was swiftly erased Sunday during the 29-10 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles.
BEREA, Ohio (AP) – Cleveland’s quarterback curse claimed another victim.
Cleveland’s quarterback curse strikes again.
In what be another tough break for the former Heisman Trophy victor out of Baylor, Griffin III, appeared to have suffered the injury while running out of bounds after an 11-yard scramble and being struck in the shoulder area by an Eagles rookie cornerback Jalen Mills.
With Griffin out for a minimum of eight games, either rookie Cody Kessler will be McCown’s backup or the Browns will bring in another veteran quarterback. The injury came off a play in the fourth quarter when Griffin was hit as he ran out of bounds by Eagles rookie Jalen Mills.
In his first season with the Browns, McCown won the starting job over Johnny Manziel, but was hampered by injuries for the bulk of the year.
“After the Browns game, Wentz admitted that he’s not the type to get nervous before a game, preferring to calm down by listening to some worship music and just “(going) out and (having) fun” on the field.
Pederson showed he’s not afraid to gamble when he went for it on fourth-and-4 from the Browns 40 with a 15-10 lead in the third quarter. “The play happened and you’ve just got to move on from it”. After the beating he put on them today, I wonder what they think of him now.
“I think they set him up with a simple offense that he could excel in and he took advantage of some big situations”. The defense seemed to play better and showed some grit, holding the Eagles offense to a field goal on a short field. He had his helmet taken away briefly by the medical staff, but would return for the final three plays of the game and handed the ball off three times. I’m like man, I know I’m going to hurt a little bit, but really I’m not that banged up.
“I’m one of those guys where I’m very tough on myself because, I want my teammates to be able to depend on me”, Erving said. “That’s a credit to Robert”.
With Griffin out, Josh McCown will start this week’s home opener against Baltimore. McCown, who coincidentally sustained a concussion on the opening drive in his debut with Cleveland last season, went 1-7 in eight starts but passed for 457 yards in a win over the Ravens. Griffin had to wait for the free agent market to shake out this past offseason before the Browns came calling.
“We have to grow from this and get better”, Jackson said. “It was an unfortunate play”. “I thought momentum was kind of coming our way”. The Browns had the second pick and needed a quarterback. The injuries haven’t helped. “‘It hasn’t gone well”.
“I grew up in OH and I rooted all my life for the Cleveland Browns but when it comes to Carson Wentz, he’s a good Christian man”.

This time it was at the hands of the Philadelphia Eagles and No. 2 draft pick Carson Wentz who the Browns decided wasn’t good enough to pick and traded their draft position in April’s draft.
