Grimes shares lead single from forthcoming album ‘Art Angels’
Grimes recently said she would be releasing a new album in October – titled “Art Angels” – and that before it arrived she would first release a new music video. Venus Fly feat. Janelle Monáe 13.

It was recorded primarily in her home studio in Los Angeles, CA, where she relocated to in 2014. The leap from last album “Visions” to this is clear: Grimes can achieve a lot on her own in her bedroom, but given access to greater resources, she has the vision to take her songs a lot further. She plays piano, guitar and violin, continuing her evolution as a musician and a producer for her most ambitious album to date. Now she’s officially premiering the first single from the album, “Flesh Without Blood”, on Annie Mac’s BBC Radio 1 show.
The bloody video – which actually spans two songs, “Flesh without Blood” and “Life in the Vivid Dream” – sees Grimes dressed up in both an elaborate, Victorian-era costume and as an angel, complete with wings.

The singer-songwriter also wrote, directed and edited the new video herself.
