Grimm canceled by NBC after upcoming final season
Set to premiere Friday, Jan. 6, at 8 p.m. ET/PT, the final season will feature its shortest order to date and consist of 13 episodes (each of its previous five seasons had consisted of a full 22).

Grimm had been the little engine that could, an under-the-radar show that became a breakout during the 2011-2012 season despite airing on Fridays.
Fans have remained loyal to NBC’s Grimm ’til the last, propelling the supernatural cop drama through a whopping six seasons on Friday nights, but all fairy tales end sooner or later. The series was left on the bench for the first time. Last season’s finale was aptly titled “The Beginning of the End” (parts 1 and 2) and focused on how the nefarious forces of Black Claw were silenced and Nick (David Giuntoli) faced an all too familiar foe in Capt. Sean Renard (Sasha Roiz). Nick must take a stand to protect his city and those closest to him, especially his child with Adalind (Claire Coffee). Behind Law & Order: SVU, Grimm actually ranked as NBC’s second longest-running series.
Besides seeing Nick and Captain Renard battle it out, there will be plenty of other drama to contend with in the final season of Grimm, as Rosalee, played by Bree Turner, and Monroe, played by Silas Weir Mitchell, have a child on the way and they will have to deal with bringing a new life into a world that is as tumultuous as ever.
The Grimm final season also stars Russell Hornsby and Reggie Lee.
When I asked Robert Greenblatt, NBC Entertainment chairman, about whether this would be the last season for “Grimm” at the recent Television Critics Association summer press tour, Greenblatt said, “We haven’t decided that yet.” We’re ultimately grateful that we got this far, and also that NBC is at least announcing this in time for us all to prepare for it.
