Health officials say medication can allow someone who is HIV positive to have a healthy, long life.
HYDERABAD: A calendar on HIV/AIDS was released by a leading physician in HIV medicine, Dr Kutikupalla Surya Rao, here on Tuesday on the occasion of World AIDS Day. Georgia ranks second in the country for the diagnosis of new HIV infections, and Atlanta ranks fifth among similar metropolitan areas in the country for new diagnoses.
Gay Men’s Health Crisis CEO Kelsey Louie said he was impressed by both the city and state effort. Half of the patients diagnosed with HIV in Grady Memorial Hospital’s emergency room testing program are found to be late or end stage HIV or AIDS cases. “And then you have to find a way to look inside and find the inner-strength to fight this thing and to say, ‘I’m not going to let HIV define me, it’s simply a virus in my body'”. “Do it now. If your results show you are free of the disease, make sure you get information about how you can stay safe”.
“It’s important to keep HIV and AIDS in the public eye because it has not gone away”.
Here in the Desert Southwest Yuma United Church of Christ held a commemoration on behalf of those that are living with and have passed away with HIV or AIDS.
The goal of World Aids Day is to help people be better informed about this disease, reduce new HIV infections, and also cut the number of aids related deaths.
There is no need for people who are HIV negative to get infected as this represents failure of HIV interventions in place to save them, Namibia’s Minister of Health and Social Services Dr Bernard Haufiku, has said.
