He last was with the Giants on November 4 and had been with the Raiders since November 17.

The Giants were without center Weston Richburg and guard Justin Pugh due to injuries in Sunday’s loss to the Washinton Redskins. The former fifth-round pick by the Redskins in 2012 has not appeared in a regular season game since 2013, but he had a solid camp for the Giants, taking some first team reps. He was on the Giants’ roster late in the 2014 season, but was inactive for the final two games.
Schwartz, who is in the second year of his four-year contract worth $16.8 million, played in just two games last season after he suffered a toe injury then a broken ankle. Coach Tom Coughlin said he hoped to have at least one back for this week, although the nature of their injuries – Pugh is in the concussion protocol and Richburg has a high ankle sprain – makes that far from a sure thing.
Schwartz was injured nearly one year to the day after he broke his left ankle in a game at Jacksonville. Gettis previously had stints on the Giants’ practice squad this season as well as time on the active roster at the end of 2014.
Coughlin formally announced that OL Geoff Schwartz (fractured leg) would be placed on season-ending IR despite rumors that he might be able to play again this season.
