City’s 4-0 demolition of Bournemouth took them five points clear at the top of the Premier League with a seventh successive victory in all competitions making it the club’s best ever start to a season.

“Guardiola said De Bruyne was one of the best players he has managed, adding: “(Lionel) Messi is on a table on his own.

“Bournemouth was until now the best team, who create more problems when they have the ball”, said Guardiola.

I think he’s special, an outstanding player.

“It wouldn’t be fair to say Jurgen is more emotional but when you see him on the sidelines living every minute, it’s not hard to understand why Dortmund were so successful under him. I’m feeling good every time I play with my team-mates, playing to instruction to play good”. That is why he is a player on another level.

He said: “Manchester City arrived once in their lives in the Champions League semi-final, so when the people believe I am going to win the Champions League because I am a really good coach”.

“11 against 11, I thought we played well”.

The Manchester City manager was speaking at a press conference on Saturday after the Premier League victory against AFC Bournemouth, a match won by the Citizens who remain flawless this season and do not look like losing any time soon.

Guardiola’s side visit Swansea City in consecutive EFL Cup and Premier League fixtures, followed by a Champions League trip to Celtic and a tough Premier League encounter against Tottenham at White Hart Lane in the coming weeks. “We are lucky to have him”. This performance was better than the one against Sunderland on the opening day but that is all. “And with the ball the quality of the players made the difference”. I know we are going to lose games.

“What I’ve seen so far is that we all need to be very flexible in all positions because nobody will stay for 30 minutes in the same role because we’re changing all the time”.
