Guardiola confirms interest in Sane and Stones

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has confirmed that his side are in the market to sign Everton defender John Stones.

Sky sources understand the Toffees are asking for £50m for the England global centre-back, but City are hoping to secure Stones’s services for significantly less.

“We’re working hard and those that will be lucky to stay here will have an wonderful season because he’s a coach that gives a lot of energy on and off the field and, from my side, it’s been incredible for the last three weeks”.

To begin with, despite signing Nolito, Ilkay Gundogan and Olexsandr Zinchenko, Guardiola has seen incoming transfers stalled due to City’s difficulty in offloading several first-team members of their squad.

Meanwhile, Everton are set to make a £14 million bid for Sunderland’s Lamine Kone as they step up their plans to replace Stones in their defensive unit, claims The Sun.

Dortmund have added well to their attacking threat and will be desperate to finish closer to Bayern Munich, while this is Manchester City’s first campaign under new manager Pep Guardiola. If he comes, we’ll be happy. “He has the quality to play wherever. So at the end of the window, we will have to see which players we have”. People can not imagine how hard it is to build up something, to try to create something, to try to play with new ideas.

He said: “Normally central defenders are strong in the air and aggressive”. I’m very happy with the squad we have, in the way they train and play.

“Fernando can also play there, but maybe he is not as quick as Fernandinho”.

“I want the fans to know that they can be so, so proud of these players – every one of them”.

“You often hear managers say being healthy is really important”.

Guardiola’s men can expect much of the same Thursday from last season’s Bundesliga runners-up in front of what is expected to be a sell-out crowd of around 40,000 at the Shenzhen Universiade Stadium.
