Guardiola heaps praise on Man City players

The Citizens now sit two points ahead of the chasing pack, having taken maximum points from their first five matches and recording successive 4-0 victories in their games against Borussia Monchengladbach in the Champions League and AFC Bournemouth in the Premier League. They have now won eight straight matches under Guardiola, surpassing the record of seven set in the Victorian era in 1897. “But the table beside, Kevin can sit there”, said Guardiola.

“Pep’s teams want the ball, he wants them to dominate the games”.

“So Manchester City arrive once in their lives in the semi-finals of the Champions League, so people believe I am going to win the Champions League because I am a real good coach?”

“We played serious again – like a small team without the ball, which is what I like the most because people are so proud when their famous players run without the ball”.

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola was full of praise for his players after their easy 4-0 win against Bournemouth. I saw against West Ham, [Man] United and in other games too that when you let them have the ball and play, they have quality. He makes everything. Without the ball he is the first fighter and with the ball he’s clear.

Sane has played just 48 minutes of Premier League football this season following his £37million transfer from Schalke, making his debut in the 2-1 victory over Manchester United.

My happiness does not depend on winning or the titles or not. “They were better than us today”, Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe said.

And the Spaniard has named Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi as the best player he has ever worked with, but says De Bruyne is right behind him. We showed good character – we did really well, pressing them high, pressing them very quickly.

With changes expected as City prepare for the defence of the League Cup with a third-round tie at Swansea on Wednesday, captain Vincent Kompany, an unused sub against Bournemouth, could figure after his injury troubles.
