Guardiola: Premier League the toughest to win

Manchester City have to shrug off the body blow of letting a two-goal lead and the chance to win the Premier League title against bitter rivals Manchester United slip to raise themselves for a Champions League rescue mission against Liverpool on Tuesday.

Have you read Trendiee Today? “We were very active in all parts of the game, flawless in the spaces, very lively closing the gaps”, he said, before praising his defence.

“We are thinking about recovering the players, about playing in front of our fans, creating a good game to put them (Liverpool) under pressure”, he told a press conference yesterday.

“There are 90 minutes more, we are going to try”.

Guardiola had suggested before the Liverpool defeat that he would rotate his side against United but he was tight-lipped about his intentions on Friday. “But that’s football. We have no complaints about the players’ intentions”.

The Citizens will host Liverpool at the Etihad next week Tuesday in the second leg of the quarter-final, when they will fight to overturn the big deficit. We see what happens.

Despite the loss, Manchester City remains atop of the Premier League standings, 13 points ahead of Man United.

It was perhaps not when the Manchester City team coach was snaking through the streets outside the ground at 6.20pm, firecrackers landing on the roof of the vehicle and beer cans bouncing off the windows in unsavoury, unnecessary scenes.

City’s dominance has been so overwhelming that many are already ranking them among the best teams in Premier League history, alongside the likes of Arsenal’s “Invincibles”, who won the 2003-04 title without losing a single match, and United’s 1999 treble winners.

Liverpool also shared the statement and asked their supporters “to gather to show their passion and support for the team.in a friendly, respectful and considerate manner”.

The former Barcelona coach said his team had paid the price for not taking their chances during a first half in which they dominated. We can do that, so there is still space for a lot of improvement but of course the result is the most important thing. In the second half, we reacted.
