Guardiola wants more from Aguero

Manager Pep Guardiola said he has been “surprised” by the quality of his Manchester City side this season.

With his side having scored 11 times and conceded just once from open play in those games, Guardiola admits he is delighted by the way his players have hit the ground running this season.

“It is impossible to say what is our target or what we can achieve”, the Spaniard said.

“I did well. I won’t always start because of the other guys in the squad but the most important thing is we all worked together in the same direction and in the end we had a good win”. You need to work hard as a player to get your chance and I’m doing everything I can to get my chance.

“We suffered for five minutes after they scored but after that they didn’t create many chances”.

The Blues boss has revealed that Robles is “disappointed” at losing his No1 spot to new signing Maarten Stekelenburg, who was again impressive in yesterday’s 2-1 win over West Bromwich Albion at the Hawthorns. We missed the last pass. That’s the first step. That’s why we saw Sergio was a little bit exhausted after playing four days ago and the travel. It was a nice week for us.

“We benefited from an award in the second half. Mike Dean is one of the more high-profile referees so maybe he enjoys that centre of attention, possibly”. Stoke’s penalty was perhaps softer, with winger Raheem Sterling adjudged to have impeded Shawcross as he attempted to mark the much taller defender without even looking at the ball.

Nolito insists he has no problem fighting for a place in the Manchester City team.

“We’ve got *clap clap* Guardiola!” I don’t know what will happen in six months. You can not be brilliant when you disappear when you [don’t] have the ball.

The City manager confirmed he will… “If you win you deserve to, if you don’t win then you don’t deserve”. “If you don’t, you deserve it”. But the rest, we saw again incredible team spirit, how they communicate with each other, how they celebrate the goals, after the game with the fans.
