Guarin: Inter Thinking About Scudetto

Last season Fiorentina completed the double over Inter, so Mancini’s men will be eager to exact revenge as they meet in the top of the table clash on Sunday. It’s the result of smart and meticulous moves in the summer Calciomercato, not only in terms of quality of the players acquired, but also regarding their experience, their cost and their hunger to win and be relevant.

The road to greatness is still long and winding though, especially if we take a closer look to the schedule so far.

Fredy Guarin confirms Inter “can think about winning the Scudetto” and credits Coach Roberto Mancini with their success. “What really counts is to be a solid squad, to not leave room for doubt”.

This Sunday’s enemy will be Fiorentina, which now sit in 2nd place.

Fiorentina have kept a clean sheet in 5 of their last 6 matches in Serie A.

The Nerazzurri have started the campaign with five straight wins, their best run for 49 years.

“To be considered a great team, you have to earn it one match at a time”.

Stevan Jovetic, one of those who joined during the most recent transfer window, has scored three goals already since his loan move from Manchester City.

Inter will be without defenders Vidic and Dodo for this match due to injuries, but the likes of Jovetic, Perisic and Ljajic will start this match and watch out for Icardi to start scoring goals. Guarin, Melo and Kondo will control the midfield, as always. Inter have only conceded once in their opening five games – demonstrating a vast improvement from last season’s defensive frailties. The home loss to Basel and Torino’s comprehensive week two win are evidence that there are tangible frailties to the Viola defence. It’s difficult to believe that at this moment even such an harsh defeat could be a crushing blow for Inter, and Mancini too; in fact it could be a hard, but needed, reality check that reminds them how much they still need to do to deserve the spot they now occupy.

I Nerazzurri is expected to have to have a tough time against Paulo Sousa’s side, but their confidence and urgency to win will keep their record ideal after the match. “You never know what might happen, but I hope to win with Inter now”.
