Hamilton’s hockey weekend is set to happen on April 8 and 9, 2017, with events, music, NHL alumni and entertainment planned for the whole weekend.

Rogers Hometown Hockey, now in its third season, will bring MacLean and co-host Tara Slone to Vernon for a special live pre-game show to air on Sportsnet prior to the January 22 game between the Vancouver Canucks and Chicago Blackhawks.

According to the show’s website, co-hosts Ron MacLean and Tara Slone will be travelling to 24 cities this National Hockey League season, broadcasting content to accompany telecasts of Sunday night games. The tour begins in Newmarket of October 15-16, and then crisscrosses the country, with weekly stops in two dozen communities nationwide. The tour will end in Hamilton the following weekend.

This season marks the third year of Rogers’s ongoing commitment to growing the game of hockey through grassroots initiatives and events, connecting Canadian communities through memorable moments and shared experiences. It is presented by Scotiabank and Doge. “On Rogers Hometown Hockey we answer these questions with stories that put actual faces on the heart and soul of our game – the roots of success each and every Sunday”, said MacLean in a statement. Local stories and local players will be integral to the broadcasts.

Vernon will host the free Rogers Hometown Hockey outdoor festival public January 21 and 22.
