Guidolin hospitalised ahead of Arsenal match

First-team coach Alan Curtis took charge of the team against Arsenal after head coach Francesco Guidolin was admitted to hospital with a chest infection earlier on Wednesday.

Goals from Wayne Routledge and captain Ashley Williams moved Swansea six points above the drop zone ahead of Saturday’s crunch game with fellow strugglers Norwich.

In a statement on their official website, Swansea revealed that Guidolin has failed to respond fully to medical treatment and has been referred to a respiratory specialist in London. “The message was put up on the board in the changing room before we went out onto the pitch and hopefully everyone could see it had an effect”.

“He wrote some words on the board saying we were in his hearts and “come on guys” and he had signed it”, the Spaniard said.

‘Everyone at Swansea City wishes him a speedy recovery’.

“It was a win for him and hopefully it makes him feel better”.

However, the situation is not a serious one, with Swansea explaining that Guidolin is in “a comfortable position” and that he should be back on his feet soon.

Curtis will take charge against Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium. We tend to do well against the big teams and it is great to have three wins in four years here, I can not imagine there are too many clubs who have done that. Guidolin had said he wanted to get Sanchez’s shirt after the game – along with three points.
