Guillermo Del Toro To Make Black-and-White Silva About A Mexican Wrestler
“I thought, wouldn’t it be great to make one of these movies where it doesn’t end up with Fabio carrying the girl outside of the house to a cliff?” shared the director.

Still, that definitive past tense he uses when discussing Hellboy definitely stings considering how many people still hold out hope that del Toro may one day be financially enabled to return to the Hellboy movies.
According to the United Kingdom publication, the movie is called “Silva”, [which is generally a Spanish surname] and is about a Mexican masked wrestler who discovers that all politicians are vampires.
Del Toro’s comments follow the decision last month by Universal Pictures to postpone “Pacific Rim 2.”
“I can’t say which ones, but I’ve been offered enormous movies in the superhero genre, but I don’t like the superheroes that are … nice”, he continued. I hope I can go back to doing the smaller, weirder ones.
One of my favorite characters introduced in the second season of “The Strain” was Angel Guzman Hurtado, a beaten-down man who used to be a Mexican wrestler/fictional vampire-slayer by the name of ‘The Silver Angel.’ If Guillermo del Toro has his way, a similar character may soon tangle with vamps on the big screen. He just might, and in a new interview he’s finally dropped a few details about the film, which will be much smaller than his recent studio films.
Del Toro, best known for “Hellboy” and “Pan’s Labyrinth“, directed, produced and co-wrote the film, which also stars “The Martian” actress Jessica Chastain as Sharpe’s sister Lucille. “I think that’s very powerful because … in many ways we all have to do that”, Hiddleston said on del Toro’s aim to subvert expectations about gothic romance. The director took to Twitter shortly after the interview sparked fan speculation to state he was simply waiting on the script and a “green light by the studios” in order to further the movie.
“Crimson Peak” is released in cinemas from October 14.
“What I can tell you quite safely is, I don’t intend to keep on doing big, giant Hollywood movies for much longer”, the “Crimson Peak” filmmaker tells The Guardian.

It’s insane (and eye-opening) to know that such a significant event of del Toro’s life would serve as an inspiration for a movie that would be commentary/fantasy metaphor on a nation’s politics.
