One of the women was four months pregnant and lost her child, according to NYPD Chief of Detective Bob Boyce.
The suspects are reportedly young men who have a history of arrests on gun charges, with some who have previously been shot themselves.
Police said officers were investigating the shooting.
CBS New York reports that a pregnant woman was among the victims. All five victims were taken to a hospital in varying conditions. At a news conference, Boyce identified one of the suspects. Nine people were taken to hospitals with gunshot wounds, but all their injuries are not life-threatening.
Five people were shot in a gang-related drive-by shooting at 98 Dwight St., police said. Twenty-two people were shot in the city between Friday and Sunday – three of them fatally.
