Gunfire at homeless shelter kills 1, injuries 1

Barksdale, of the 6200 block of Shelbourne St., was shot at least five times, police said, with gunshot wounds found behind the left ear, left shoulder, left upper chest, left abdomen and right thigh.

Around 6:15 a.m. Sunday, Brock returned to the shelter and made his way into the building through the front doors with food service workers who were making an early-morning delivery, police and shelter officials said.

The distraught family of the victim who died in the shooting arrived at the shelter later Sunday morning. Investigators tell us the 32-year old was kicked out on Friday night for intoxication.

The home provides shelter for low income and homeless people, according to the program’s website.

Police said Brock, who is 5 feet, 11 inches tall, weighing about 200 pounds, should be considered armed and risky.
