The robbery and shooting were caught on a hotel surveillance camera that shows a white Volkswagen Jetta following the victim’s auto into a parking lot and parking directly behind it, the official said.
A mother is fighting for her life after being shot while trying to protect her daughter during an attempted robbery outside a hotel near John F. Kennedy International Airport.
Koller had gotten out of the vehicle to check in, while her daughter sat in the auto, according to the Journal. The Post reports that the man also stole her rings.
Moments later Koller walked out of the hotel and confronted the thieves who fired one shot, striking her in the chest.
A masked mugger who pistol-whipped a college student outside a hotel near JFK Airport hissed, “Your mother better have some money or I’m going to shoot you!” before gunning down the mom as she ran to save her daughter, law enforcement sources said Friday.
Koller, 53, was rushed to the hospital in critical condition.
The bandit jumped into the waiting Jetta with his getaway driver, sources said.

The daughter has been treated for minor head wounds after being pistol-whipped. “Guns change hands and the simple truth is, more guns in more hands means more gun-based crimes”. No arrests have been made, and the investigation is ongoing.
