The Seattle Times reports that at Mukilteo’s Kamiak High School hundreds of young adults gathered to mourn their friends.
“My granddaughter called us about 20 minutes after midnight and said she was hiding, that there had been a shooting and that two of her friends were shot and she was shot at”. The ones present who knew Ivanov said he and one of the victims had recently broken up the week before. The police have indicated that they have no reason to believe that anyone else is a suspect and they are not actively looking for any other suspects.
Gemmer said that according to her granddaughter, the gunman shot two people at a fire pit before going onto a roof and firing more shots from there. “We were texting back and forth, telling her to stay quiet, stay calm, we’re on our way”, Gemmer said.
Approximately 15-20 people have been reported to be inside the home at the time of the shooting.
In what police are calling the worst incident in the city since 2002, officers say the gunman acted alone. The neighborhood surrounding the home has been sealed off as police continue to investigate. A suspect was apprehended three counties away, said Officer Myron Travi.
“Officers in Lewis County who while out on patrol identified a vehicle matching that description southbound on I5 and they conducted a traffic stop in an area of mile post 75”.
Authorities did not immediately release information about or the identities of the suspect or the victims.
However a man named Allen Christopher Ivanov was booked into the Snohomish County Jail on Saturday afternoon (local time) for investigation of three counts of murder, including one of aggravated murder, which can bring the death penalty.
