A man armed with a shotgun was shot and killed by police Tuesday afternoon at a construction site near St. Luke’s Hospital on Cesar Chavez Street in San Francisco, authorities confirmed.

No one else was injured. San Bruno police officers had communicated with SFPD as events were unfolding, asking if the suspect’s description matched that of a suspect in a San Bruno robbery, which it did.
He says they do not yet have a motive.
St. Luke’s was put on lockdown. There are reports of “flashbangs” – akin to stun grenades, used by law enforcement and the military to incapacitate someone with light and noise – in the area on social media.
The threat created havoc in the city’s Mission District as police blocked off streets and warned people to stay away from the area.
“We are all okay, but everyone here is pretty freaked out”, she said.
News organisation NBC’s helicopter flew over the area and saw police throwing “flash bangs” on the roof of a building under construction in what appeared to be a standoff. Five minutes later, Paul estimated, the police arrived.
“I turned that corner on Cesar Chavez and I hear five shots”, said Eric, a nearby resident. I couldn’t see who shot.
