Thousands of people had been crowding the streets and squares in Munich’s city center in the afternoon, clinking glasses, eating sausages, and listening to bands at a beer festival.

The shooting took place at Munich’s Olympia-Einkaufszentrum shopping mall.

A police patrol had shot and wounded the attacker but he had managed to escape, he said. In an interview with the CNN, a woman said her eight-year-old son saw one of the suspects reload his gun inside the mall’s bathroom.

The gunman, wearing a cap and sunglasses, began his shooting spree outside the fast food restaurant, which is near the Olympia-Einkaufszentrum shopping mall, notes the Daily Mirror.
