Attempts to reach Rosenberg’s family weren’t successful. Long says one person was shot in the apartment complex parking lot, and two others were shot inside.
One of the shooter’s three victims is also dead, with the medical status of the other two victims unknown at this time. the shooting happened a little after 11 a.m.at the Heritage Court Apartment Complex. It’s not known yet whether the three unidentified shooting victims lived at the complex.
One of the victims was shot inside the complex, on Cheyenne’s northeast side, and the other two were shot outside, Long said. He killed himself as officers approached him in a neighbourhood more than a kilometre away, Long said. Eastman said she left the letter in her apartment and didn’t read it until later – after she returned to find the building a crime scene.
“He started getting more and more distant, complaining about the facility and about people and just kind of pulling away, isolating himself more and more”, said Margaret Rosso, whose 80-year-old mother lives at the same complex.
Police comforted a distraught woman at the scene.
Police have not identified the weapons used in the shooting, although the Wyoming News said that scanner traffic indicated that the handgun was a.22 American Arms revolver. The lock-down was lifted at about 12:30 p.m. A website for the apartments describes the housing as “independent, affordable senior living” that was designed for “senior households”.
