Madison Police confirm one person was shot in the leg during a disturbance inside East Towne Mall.

There are reports that at least one man was brought out in a stretcher, and taken to the hospital, while a second man was taken into custody.

A 19-year-old man, believed to be part of the initial disturbance, was shot in the leg. “This is not an act of terrorism”, Madison police spokesman Joel DeSpain told The Associated Press.

DeSpain says: “My understanding is it was a chaotic scene”.

Police were said to be running through the shopping center with guns as customers were told to evacuate.

East Towne Mall is 840,000 square feet with 110 retailers, according to its website.
