Hiddink returned to Chelsea‘s Cobham training base after his meeting with Mourinho, but he will not get down to work with his players until Tuesday, as they were given two days off following their 3-1 win against Sunderland on Saturday.

However, they have won just one of their last 10 fixtures on this day in the top division of English football (W1 D3 L6). Not in the post-1992 Premier League era or any time stretching back into the 19th century.

New Chelsea manager Guus Hiddink says that he would love to recruit Didier Drogba to the club’s backroom staff.

John Terry believes Guus Hiddink can restore “a lot of passion and fire” to the Chelsea team after a dismal start to the season, but admitted that he was “gutted” about the sacking of Jose Mourinho.

Star Wars on course to land United States box office record
The previous record holder for a December opening was ” The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey “, which took in million in 2012. In New Zealand, the first-day screenings alone, starting at midnight on Thursday, netted more than .5 million.

The 69-year-old Hiddink’s latest firefighting role comes with Chelsea only four points above the Premier League relegation zone following an alarming slump just seven months after sweeping to the title. “However, I am sure we can all turn this season around”, Hiddink said in a club statement.

“At other clubs in the past I’ve been speaking from time to time with the board, but not in an official capacity”, Hiddink said, hinting at helping Chelsea’s board in their permanent manager search.

Clement was always hugely impressed with Hiddink’s work and is in no doubt his methods will make a difference to Chelsea’s struggling players.

“We would like to get him involved”, Hiddink said when asked about whether Drogba is an option as his assistant. “But I also told them things happen in football and I want everyone to look themselves in the mirror, for not just a second but for a long time, to see what anyone from now on can contribute to the way up. They give the brand Chelsea a big image worldwide”.

“They’ll support us through this hard period and we will come out on top sooner or later”.

“I think all of us are in this position, there’s not one or two individuals. So I like to look forward”.

“That is what I was emphasising on – not to look back so much”.

“The manager is not on the pitch; it is the players, so we lose the games and the thing we can change is ourselves”.

The Blues play Watford at Stamford Bridge on Boxing Day, but despite saying he shouldn’t be back at the club, he is glad to return to a side with whom he won the FA Cup with in 2009.

“It was frightening for everyone in the club…it’s not easy to fix”, Hiddink said on Wednesday before his first match in charge against Watford on Saturday.

“Jose Mourinho is a very good coach”, said Pedro.

Some feel the loss of Drogba’s leadership played a part in the team’s troubles this season and that bringing him back would boost morale and cohesion.
