As you can see in the bennetts.co.uk video on Channel 4, the location for this attempt will be the “usual” Bonneville Salt Flats, located in the state of Utah, not far from Miller Motosport Park where SBK and AMA have raced in various editions. Martin had taken a year off from the races at the Isle of Man and among the things that he wanted to do during this year off was the land speed record. And that’s probably why Triumph has invited Guy Martin to take their new machine north of 370 miles per hour. It is powered by methanol fuel, and the motorcycle will compete in Division C (streamlined motorcycle) category. “The Triumph engineers have built an incredible machine, giving us the very best chance to beat the two-wheeled land speed record”, said Martin. In order to be successful, Triumph will have to go past the current record of 606.69 km/h set by Rocky Robinson in September 2010 in his Top Oil-Ack attack streamliner. In the past Triumph has had a history of breaking the land speed record, holding the title of “World’s Fastest Motorcycles” between 1955 to 1970.

Last summer, the popular British roadracer was lined up to challenge for the top motorcycle speed record at Bonneville, but a summer of dumpy weather put an end to racing on the salt flats – and Guy’s attempt. Triumph Motorcycles is one of the fastest growing premium luxury automobile brands in India as we have over 3,000 customers in 30 months of operation in the country. The legendary Bonneville name that is still used on its latest range of bikes came about after Johnny Allen’s land-speed record at the same salt flats in 1956 when he hit 193.72mph using a parallel twin 650 Thunderbird engine.
