Guy Ritchie’s King Arthur Pushed Back To 2017
Will Smith has said that there’s an 80% chance that Bad Boys III will actually shoot next year, so there’s a marginal chance for its release date to change and for Guy Ritchie to lose the potentially-fierce competition. Nevertheless, this update of the Arthur legend is still going to take on sequels to three different franchises, only seven months later.

As far as Ritchie is concerned, the acclaimed director is known for his previous success in the crime genre, with movies like Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels, and Snatch.
Back in late July of this year, Entertainment Weekly gave the new King Arthur and Hunnam a cover story, promising that Richie was making an Arthur someone other than a “virtuous, medieval Superman”. This move will likely benefit the box office numbers for Ritchie’s film, especially given how popular the Star Trek reboot has been.
Well, that’s the first of next summer’s planned blockbusters that’s retreated for a safer release. Eric Bana is Arthur’s father, Uther Pendragon, while Jude Law is the villainous Vortigern and Djimon Hounsou is Sir Bedivere, one of Uther’s old comrades who takes Arthur under his wing.
The film, which was previously set to hit theaters September 9, will now be competing against Paramount’s Star Trek Beyond and Fox’s Ice Age: Collision Course on it’s new release date.

Warner Brothers scheduled it for July 22, 2016 – prime real estate -but has now made a decision to push it back to Presidents Day weekend: February 17, 2017.
