The magical author has unleashed an official Patronus quiz that is live on Pottermore-a.k.a. the go-to place for fans of Harry and his magical world. Users summon a single happy memory and then respond to some quick multiple-choice questions, after which they are presented with their Patronus, calculated via J.K. Rowling’s secret algorithm. When a witch or wizard casts their Patronus by thinking of their happiest memory and chanting “Expecto Patronum!” they conjure up their very own animal protector made of glowing white light. Most Patronuses are ordinary animals (below, see examples of fox and bear Patronuses) but in rare cases, they can also be magical creatures (Dumbledore’s, for instance, is a phoenix). On Wednesday, Pottermore started to tweet out a dark photo that, in subsequent tweets, began to reveal art of the Forbidden Forest and a silver wisp. The 3D experience allows users to make a series of choices, based on a prompts and questions written by J.K. Rowling and discover which animal form their Patronus takes. We won’t have to wonder about J.K. Rowling’s Patronus: In her reveal she shared that her results had changed between a trial run and the completed test.
