Stefani shared, “During that time period, I felt like, I was down all the way”. Never hit rock bottom.

With the imminent release of Stefani’s new solo album, This Is What the Truth Feels Like, the No Doubt front woman has been talking candidly about her new relationship, describing it as a “gift”.

And while “Me Without You” isn’t quite “Don’t Speak”, the kiss-off ballad does put things in the right perspective. But the strongest song here is the simplest: “Truth”, where Stefani faces her future over a straightforward guitar hook and says, “They’re all gonna say I’m rebounding, so rebound all over me”.

First off, she seems to carry a great deal of embarrassment and shame over the crumbling of her 13-year marriage, which can be heard on tracks such as the heart-wrenching lead single “Used To Love You”.

“It’s nearly as if I’m tied to the tracks/ And I’m waiting for him to rescue me/ The amusing thing is/ He’s not going to come”, lyrics from the track, Excuse Me Mr. said to allude her breakup with then boyfriend, Tony Kanal.

During a recent conversation with CMT Hot 20 Countdown’s Cody Alan, Shelton talked about the new album, set for release on May 20.

She said recently: “You just crumble, you know? This is the first week of me really thinking about all this, and talking about it. I feel so weird about it. But if this music helps people, that would make it all worth it”. “All of this was false and went so far beyond prior stories about me that I had previously denied with humor”. “At that time everything was like I had no skin, it was so raw”, Stefani said. “But when you’re a mother, you have to have some boundaries”.

Meanwhile, Gwen is now dating country music singer Blake Shelton -whose marriage to Miranda Lambert ended previous year – and says he saved her following her heartbreak over her split from Gavin.

In October, Shelton sued the gossip magazine’s parent company, Bauer Media, over a salacious cover story that claimed he checked into rehab after his split from Miranda Lambert.
