Hacked emails complicate Democratic National Convention
Five years ago, Debbie Wasserman Schultz was put in charge of the Democratic National Committee to usher in a new era for the party. The person was unauthorized to discuss the conversations publicly and insisted on anonymity.

Debbie Wasserman Schultz will step down as chairwoman of the Democratic National Committee at the conclusion of this week’s convention, the Florida congresswoman said Sunday in a statement.
The bitterness and frustration among the party’s more progressive wing increased after the website Wikileaks published some 19,000 DNC emails suggesting the party was favoring Clinton.
Here’s what Sanders tells ABC’s “This Week”: “I’m not shocked, but I am disappointed”. But even as they cheered news of her long lobbied-for departure, the broad coalition of protesters here pledged to keep up the heat on the Democratic establishment. Sanders had demanded earlier in the day that Wasserman Schultz resign. Tim Kaine of Virginia as her running mate. Would I have preferred to see somebody like an Elizabeth Warren selected by Secretary Clinton?
“His political views are not my political views. Yeah, they are. He’s more conservative than I am”.
“We believe the masses really do want Bernie Sanders”, Occupy DNC organizer Laurie Cestnick told CNN before the DNC emails were released by Wikileaks.
Trump campaign manager Paul Manafort said the Clinton camp was trying to distract from its party discord ahead of the convention. Ted Cruz, refused to endorse the billionaire businessman.
At the Republican convention, Trump cast himself as the law-and-order candidate in a nation suffering under crime and hobbled by immigration, sticking to the gloom-and-doom theme. “As Party Chair, this week I will open and close the Convention and I will address our delegates about the stakes involved in this election not only for Democrats, but for all Americans”. “The party leadership must also always remain impartial in the presidential nominating process, something which did not occur in the 2016 race”.
It was unclear whether Wasserman Schultz would have a speaking role at the convention.
Meanwhile, thousands of Sanders’ supporters assembled in Philadelphia on Sunday to march from city hall to a nearby park, voicing their anger over they said was sabotage of the Sanders campaign. (Breaking into tears during a TV interview, she backed the plan.) In past years, Wasserman Schultz has proved an effective surrogate for presidential candidates both to the Jewish community and on women’s issues. “He just showed up one day, came in, sat down and said, ‘What are the problems we need to know?’ He sat with me, and he sat with some of my homeless clients, and he took that information back to Washington”. “It proves our point that they’ve tried to marginalize him and make it as hard as possible”.
Stein’s campaign will be out in force seeking to pick up the support of disgruntled Sanders supporters. “What’s in those emails show that it was a clearly rigged system, that Bernie Sanders – Sanders never had a chance”.
The furore was a blow to a party keen on projecting steadiness in contrast to the volatility of Republican nominee Donald Trump, who was formally nominated last week, and overshadowed preparations in Philadelphia for Clinton’s coronation as the Democratic nominee to face Trump in the November 8 White House election.
How the emails were stolen hasn’t been confirmed.

“What’s disturbing to us is that experts are telling us that Russian state actors broke into the DNC, stole these emails and other experts are now saying that Russians are releasing these emails for the goal of helping Donald Trump”, Clinton campaign chairman Robby Mook said on CNN’s “State of the Union”. It came amid a growing drumbeat for her to step aside, including strong pressure from the Clinton campaign, according to a senior Democrat familiar with the negotiations. Sanders has 1,894 total delegates, including 48 superdelegates. “He is a very nice guy”, Sanders, who has endorsed Clinton, said on NBC’s “Meet the Press”. The state-by-state roll call is scheduled for Tuesday.
