Contrary to popular belief, the Pokemon trend did not started with the anime series. The game has shattered usage records and transcended barriers in pretty much every country it’s been released in so far.
The mobile game has become an instant hit just one week after launch. Ltd. might be more of a mobile gaming company than a seller of gaming consoles.
“Pokemon Go is an example of an augmented reality game that has captured the imagination of people across the world”, Sastry said. The game has increased Nintendo’s market value by a whopping $17 billion, causing the company’s investors to take a serious look of potential strategy changes.
“Pokemon Go” uses real world Global Positioning System data and a virtual world map built on Google Maps to know where you are. The highest volume came the day after Pokemon Go’s first weekend. The data shows that just over half of all Pokemon GO spenders (53%) had made just one or fewer in-app purchases in the past six months prior to Pokemon GO’s launch. Players walk around their neighbourhoods in real life, search out and capture Pokemon cartoon characters on their smartphones.
The phenomenal success of Pokemon GO – now available in 35 countries, the majority in Europe, and most recently in Canada – has triggered massive buying in Nintendo shares, surprising even some seasoned market players.

Pokemon Go has overwhelmed a gaming market previously dominated by behemoths King, Zynga, and Minecraft, each with hundreds of millions of downloads. Even if “Pokemon Go” is not a popular way to socialize a year from now, the friendship and communication it provided might last longer than the game’s fame.
