Hafiz Saeed spews venom after Narendra Modi meets Nawaz Sharif in Lahore
“We mustn’t forget that this is the same Modi who previously during his visit to Bangladesh openly took credit for breaking Pakistan into two and admitted being part of the volunteer-movement that actively participated”. “Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif took his personal friendship with Narendra Modi to a next level, ignoring the national interest”, he added.

At next month’s meeting, the countries’ foreign secretaries are expected to restart a so-called comprehensive dialogue that includes mundane commercial and cultural exchanges as well as thorny boundary issues and terrorism.
External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj said Modi has acted like a statesman in deciding to visit Pakistan and this is how relations with neighbours should be. “On Modi’s visit it is for the AICC to comment and they have commented and they will comment more”, he said.
When asked what the public reaction to the talks in India would be when they were made public, Mr. Doval reportedly said, “We expected a strong reaction when PM Modi met PM Sharif in Paris, but were surprised that except for a few opposition leaders, they were welcomed by most”.
The cricketer-turned-politician was also critical of reports that Indian steel tycoon Sajjan Jindal could have been instrumental in the latest meeting after he reportedly arranged a secret meeting of the two in Kathmandu on the sidelines of the last SAARC summit.
“Modi’s surprise visit to Pakistan underscores his reputation as a bold leader willing to break the mold in foreign policy even at the risk of alienating some of his core supporters at home”, said Sadanand Dhume, resident fellow at the American Enterprise Institute in Washington.
Opening the parliament building in Kabul, Modi pledged India’s support for the Afghan government and urged regional powers, including Pakistan, to work together to foster peace. After her talks with Pakistan, she said both sides agreed to resume talks on several topics.
Major political parties, including the Pakistan Peoples Party and Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf, had the consensus on peace and enhanced people-to-people contacts between Pakistan and India, Sartaj Aziz said while talking to a private television channel. He told the Indian PM that he developed this view when he visited India during the Asiad in 1982 and had the opportunity to travel through Punjab and Haryana, meeting people on the way.
This is the first visit of Prime Minister Modi to Pakistan after assuming the office.
In 1999, prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee went to Pakistan and inaugurated the Lahore-New Delhi bus service.
But there are signs that Pakistan’s powerful army, which has ruled the country for around half its existence, was not entirely happy about the visit.
Mr. Modi and Nawaz Sharif decided during the unscheduled meeting to have their foreign secretaries meet soon in Islamabad, Pakistan Foreign Secretary Aizaz Chaudhry said.
Kashmir, which tinges all such diplomatic gestures (overtly or otherwise), seemed to react favourably to the meeting.

“Modi’s visit to Lahore has created hope and it indicates his style of diplomacy”, Malik told IANS.
