On its own, the accident would’ve hardly been newsworthy, but coming on the heels of rumors about Fallon’s hard partying, as well as a freaky incident in which he chipped a tooth last August, the fall prompted questions and concerns about Jimmy’s drinking habits.

NBC chief Bob Greenblatt said he would be open to having John Travolta, who played Tracy Turnblad’s mother Edna in the 2007 version of “Hairspray”, reprise his role in the TV version.

Greenblatt did admit that Fallon likes to have fun and has had accidents, but “Aside from that, he’s in better shape than he’s ever been”. “Always, we are anxious about his safety”. It can feel quite limiting. “I haven’t been part of it. I don’t have those conversations with Jimmy Fallon”.

On other topics, there has been no discussions about doing primetime Saturday Night Live specials during the final stage of the Presidential campaign. “GLAAD documented us as the most diverse network”.

With those comedies, and the ones on his development slate for next season, including sitcoms from Tina Fey and Parks and Recreation co-creator Mike Schur, “I feel like we’re really beginning to get our edge back in the comedy arena”, Greenblatt said.

“We have dream casting, but it’s too early,”Greenblatt told Us Weekly”.

“I can’t thank NBC enough for continuing to support our show and this more than makes up for my disappointment in not getting cast in The Wiz“, Meyers joked in a statement. “Digital video consumption of our content increased over 50 percent in 2015 to 6 billion views”, Greenblatt said.
