Hajj 2016: Five-day ritual begins on September 10
Dhaka – The Muslim festival of Eid-al-Adha will be celebrated across Bangladesh on September 13, the Islamic Foundation said on Friday.

In July, Egypt’s Astronomical and Geophysics Institute announced that the country would celebrate the first day of Eid Al-Adha on 11 September according to the institute’s calculations.
Haj and Eid al Adha are celebrated to commemorate the sacrifices made by Prophet Ibrahim, Prophet Ismael and his mother Hager (peace be upon all of them).
The Zul Hijjah crescent has not been sighted in Saudi Arabia, which means Eid Al Adha will be on September 12 (Monday) this year, Saudi and local media reported.
A spokesman for the Muslim Council of Britain said: “Islamic festivals are based around the lunar calendar and so each month starts with the sighting of the new moon”. The religious rituals of the Hajj pilgrimage, however, can be completed in five days.
There are two Eid events in the Islamic calendar each and every year – and, after Eid-al-Fitr took place to mark the end of Ramadan in July – it’s time to look forward to Eid-al-Adha.
The suspect in the imam slaying pleaded not guilty in court on Thursday to murder charges.
The first day of Zil Hijjah, 1437, will be on September 4 in Pakistan.
Traditionally, the festival lasts for four days but public holidays vary from country to country.
“This year, there may be a chance that Eid falls on September 11 – but this would be completely coincidental as Eid falls on the tenth day of the month of Dhul Hijjah, after the completion of the Hajj pilgrimage”.
“Eidul Adha in India will be celebrated on Tueseday 13th September, 2016”.
