Half A College Football Team Was Suspended For Buying School Supplies
The school said 16 players already have served suspensions over the first two games of the season and two more would serve a suspension later.

Apparently, this is a violation of NCAA rules, despite the fact the players claim the CSU bookstore staff told them to use the excess book money before it was taken from them.
On Friday, CSU head football coach Jamey Chadwell confirmed that 14 of his players would serve their suspension against the Seminoles on Saturday.
SPREADING THE WEALTH: Florida State had five players with three or more receptions in the opener including running back Dalvin Cook, who set career highs for catches (six) and receiving yards (101).
Charleston Southern is 1-1 this season, losing 24-17 to North Dakota State in overtime and routing Kentucky State 57-7 last week.
Charleston Southern’s football team has been caught up in a unusual story when players took to social media Thursday night to claim over 30 of their players have been suspended. The players said campus bookstore employees suggested they spend the leftover money there “because it disappears if we don’t”.
“We are being punished for using excess book money to buy school supplies, clothes and electronics from the (CSU) bookstore after being advised to “use it because it disappears if we don’t”, not knowing that we were committing an NCAA violation”.
“I was very proud of the way we started the game”. Today’s game has an afternoon start time and will air on a specialty TV channel as well as being available on a live stream online option.

Other football players expressed similar social-media accounts that back up Robinson’s original post, including senior receiver Colton Korn. “They just recently came to our view, so we are working every day, late into the night to make sure every athlete that we play is eligible”.
“I’m bewildered at the at the lack of respect the university is showing us athletes and student body as a whole”, he wrote on Facebook. The Buccaneers are 37.5-point underdogs as an FCS program, but the hard task of taking on the Seminoles might now be impossible as multiple Charleston Southern players announced late Thursday that half the team has been suspended for the game. Starting safety Derwin James exited Saturday’s matchup against Charleston Southern as the result of a left knee injury. “The protection of its student/athletes should be a number one priority”.
“It is unfortunate Charleston Southern University only cares about itself as an institution”, Cirone wrote.
Chadwell’s suspension was not related to the misuse of scholarship money, but because of the use of social media for recruiting.
“We didn’t want to focus on who we were playing we wanted to focus on how we were playing”, said Francois, who finished 25 of 32 including an interception.

Charleston Southern moved the ball to close to midfield before punting, but senior Bobo Wilson took the punt back 89 yards for the touchdown to push the Florida State lead to 28-0.
